While Take-Two is riding high on their announcement that a GTA 6 trailer is coming, its CEO has some…interesting ideas on how much video games could cost, part of a contingent of executives that believe games are underpriced, given their cost, length or some combination of the two.
Some dungeon crawlers I enjoyed: Hades, Enter the Gungeon, Torchlight 1 & 2, Crypt of the Necrodancer, Legend of Grimrock, The Binding of Isaac Rebirth
As title says, once Valve announced the OLED deck, I saw the refurbished originals go on a deep discount and figured it was time to buy in. So I ordered a refurb 512GB and I’m so excited for it to arrive! Been in a gaming rut for a long time now and, having never been a PC gamer, I’m look forward to checking out a bunch of...
For Epic Games, I’d also recommend Heroic. You can download it from the Discover Software Center in Desktop Mode.
Some quick tips:
If you need to bring up a keyboard for whatever reason, you can hold the STEAM button, and press X.
Expect to tinker and play around with things, I think the software is still a bit new and rough around the edges.
Search the Discover Software Center for software in general; it’s a good place to download things like browsers and applications.
If you want to know if a game runs or not, you can check www.protondb.com , it’s a crowdsourced version of Valve’s “Steam Deck Verified”, where people say how well games work.
Some game recommendations, based on ones I’ve played. Not had a chance to try them all on the Steam deck, but they should work:
Stardew Valley
Baba is You
Celeste
Cuphead
Dicey Dungeons
Slay the Spire (Think you have to use the touch screen though)
The reason people forget about Transistor might be the game Hades -from the same studio- which was/is such a huge hype. Got them both in my library, played a lot of Hades but never really got into Transistor because in my opinion it really pales in comparison to Hades.
Got it installed before I checked my replies and I didn’t even realize it was them till I started playing! But yeah it’s pretty awesome so far, loving the Turn() mechanic, gives me way less anxiety than Hades
Tales of Maj Eyal is a roguelike that is on the scale of an epic adventure rather than a single dungeon delve. It has some of the most unique class design I’ve seen in a game. It has great automation features that let you set trigger conditions for skills. The game has received persistent updates for over a decade now.
Crystal Project is a relatively new JRPG that features some of the best exploration I’ve ever seen in a game. Also like ToME it has interesting class design. The end game bosses are fun, and actually make you think about your team design, they are generally not brute forceable.
Both games are well received but have less than 10k reviews on Steam, where indie darlings such as Cuphead or Hades have over 100k.

Mostly Inkbound. 2 friends suggested it on the same day a couple weeks ago so I gave it a shot. It kind of feels like turn based Hades. There’s enough RNG to keep things interesting, and enough choice to let you explore different builds.
Also playing KeyWe with my girlfriend. It’s a series of mini games where you play as kiwi birds in a post office. Some of the tasks can feel tedious and the mechanics could use some polish, but overall it’s a good co-op game with cute animals and outfits.

A brilliant film emerged from these skirmishes – but its core insight still takes work to unpack. For generations, a persistent myth that black families were irreparably broken by sloth and hedonism had been perpetuated by US culture. What do you want? Do you want a shot in utero where the switches for white supremacy are flipped? I’m not sure you’ll ever find what you’re looking for. I think the whole inherent racism thing is a switch that is or is not flipped during one’s development and the movie tried to tackle the issue within the 100 or so minutes it was given. At the very least it identified a facet of white supremacism.
I suppose perhaps I’m ignorant, but you seem to say that the interactions we experience in the film are secondary to something more systemic, and while I suppose I can say yeah, I agree, to just shurg off these things and say no, that want it, Derek was born hading black dudes, I think is a little shortsighted. Frankly, if you don’t put stock in the interactions the movie depicts, then what hope do you have?
I was born in the 80s and grew up with racism at my dinner table in a similar fashion, and when I was 15 I didn’t quite understand this movie in the same way I do at 36. I make efforts to not flip the switch for my kids at every opportunity. To hear you say it’s institutionalized makes me feel like it’s hopeless, and my babies, in spite of their colorblind nature now, will ultimately latch on to some rationale to hate people who don’t like like them, because it’s just in our nature.
Ah you’re the kind of person for whom the Hades devs created the shop item that guarantees a fishing spot in the next room. I never thought I’d find the reason why they put that in
It's the Day of Hermes aka Mercurius Day aka #Wednesday! 🐏
For #AllHallows, have a relief of #Hermes in his role as #psychopomp. Hermes guides the souls of the dead to the underworld. Here, he takes the hand of a dead woman named Myrrhine on the way down to Hades.

What I mean is… sometimes people are very loyal to a videogame franchise or a company because they loved a game they released years ago (Silent Hill/Konami with Silent Hill 2, Blizzard/Bethesda with their respective golden eras, some could argue this happens too with Pokémon and Final Fantasy, etc). Larian (baldurs gate 3) is massive for being indie. I think where your misconception comes from is the term indie. The term comes with a lot of predetermined expectations and definitions, but in spite of this fact very large studios can be indie.
Of course it feels weird to label a studio as large as larian indie when compared to the likes of supergiant(hades) or two brothers of bay 12 who created dwarf fortress. None of the three are technically any less indie, but one certainly feels more indie, doesn’t it?
I usually play games on “normal” difficulty these days, for a balanced challenge. However, I don’t particularly enjoy boss fights, or at least I don’t enjoy the extra challenge associated with them. Was thinking it would be nice if games had a separate setting so I could just set boss fights to “easy”, while not...
Would be nice if there was a dynamic difficulty that constantly changes based on how well your performing. You can always have a hard fought and be victorious but just barely to have a great experience. Would need a different implementation to have some penalty or reduce reward for not performing well so you will be motivated to try your best. Although properly implementing that is definetely a difficult task but seems possible enough to hope for. The closest thing I can imagine is hades that gradually increases damage resistance each time you die and I really like that implementation for a rougelike. I am someone who likes a bit of challenge but will definitely lose interest if I have to repeat something multiple times. Hades is an exception as each runs varies a lot but soulslike game that you have to try multiple times to learn and defeat a boss is a massive turn off for me.

If you mean true roguelikes then I agree, if you include rogue lites like Dead Cells or Hades then there is true progression and unlocking of new mechanics and weapons that allow you to learn and practice new techniques using them
Republican Speaker of the House Mike Johnson, in his first remarks after being elected Wednesday afternoon, told Members of Congress that “Scripture” and “the Bible” are clear that they have been “ordained” by God.
Funny how there isn’t actually a hell in the whole book. I mean it mentions a parable but Gehenna is just a real place on earth where they disposed of trash. No mention of burning eternally, just burning the once and then done. Not so bad really. You’d have to be one of those pagan bastards who believe in like Hades or Nifelheim to believe someone would be tortured eternally after they die if we just go with the main book and not all centuries of later fanfic add ons…
Also depending on whether or not all that “washing of feet” was as potentially euphemistic as the phrase is used in other places in the book Jesus probably banged a whole lot of dudes at his big party.
Paul as a pretty obvious sex repulsed asexual wasn’t big on anybody banging anybody. He was like “If you really have to then like… Just your wife I guess but even then ew.”
