YSK the Connect App lets you collapse comments

TLDR: Tap and hold on a comment to collapse it.

I was missing the feature from RiF that let you hide and collapse comment chains. I only just figured out how to do this on the Connect Android app.

By pressing and holding on a comment you hide that comment and all replies to it letting you easily skip down to the next parent comment.

deweydecibel ,

Every last single app I’ve tried has this. That can’t seriously be a selling point.

Valinor000 OP ,

Maybe not a selling point sure, but something I wasn’t aware of. I came across it by accident :)

The “Reverse Comment Interactions” option in Settings makes it a single tap instead. I’m used to that so it’s nice the app has various customization options to cater to different users.

Valinor000 OP ,

Oh that’s even better! Thanks!

kimagure ,

It’s not exclusive to Connect though.
I use Mlem @ iOS and I can collapse comment too.

Valinor000 OP ,

I’m glad to hear that other apps have this too. Connect is the first one I’ve tried and the feature makes browsing alot easier

Nemo ,

So does Jerboa. I keep hitting it by accident.

I keep collapsing the sub-comments because I keep thinking long pressing on the main comment = the context menu of the comment

Same with wefwef.

Pretty much every Lemmy app currently in production let’s you do this, tbh.

It’s invariably either by a single press or a long press on the parent comment.

Valinor000 OP ,

I’m really glad this is a standard feature, it’s super useful!
