Also that “events of the past” vs “events of the current” dichotomy is just some S-tier mental gymnastics. It’s all in the past. The Hamas attack, Israel’s more recent attack that also killed loads of civilians. If you know about the event, then it’s already happened. That’s just how time works.
They’re just choosing some arbitrary point in the past to start counting so they can claim one side is the victim and the other are the terrorists, but they’re pretending to have some objective basis for it although that falls down the moment you look at it.
