Their strategy now is to just wait out the West and just rely on fickle Western “boredom”. At the moment, they can’t really beat Ukraine on the battlefield, with it being fully supplied by Western weapons and just overall more effective, so what they’re angling for now is to sow discord and doubt among Western allies. Their hail mary pass is for Trump to get back into the White House to pull military support, but also having Republicans in Congress pull any further funding, which is basically what all the theatrics in Washington have been about the past few weeks. Any Republicans supporting cuts to Ukrainian aid are traitors who need to be investigated for ties to Russia, that’s literally the only reason they would support cuts to funding (though I’ll allow actual stupidity as another potential reason). Supporting Ukraine is probably one of the best uses of our military’s money for the past half century. I’m not even a hawk, I hate war, but Russia has shown itself to be a force for evil, misinformation, and intolerance throughout the world. This is about as close to a battle of good vs evil as it gets.
