HAMAS is still a terrorist group that wants the destruction of Israel and its citizens, often invoking religious imagery and themes concerning such. Let’s not pretend there’s good guys in this situation, whether or not you believe in the idea of HAMAS as freedom fighters.

For example, the founding charter contains lines like this: The hour of judgment shall not come until the Muslims fight the Jews and kill them, so that the Jews hide behind trees and stones, and each tree and stone will say: ‘Oh Muslim, oh servant of Allah, there is a Jew behind me, come and kill him,’ except for the Gharqad tree, for it is the tree of the Jews.

There’s no room for religious extremism in a leftist worldview regardless of who the extremist is.

No they’re not the good guys, but it’s also important to understand radicalization doesn’t manifest out of thin air. Like a child who suffers abuse and abuse and abuse, there can often come a breaking point, whether that’s suicidal or homicidal ideation. Oxford shooter comes to mind. Radicalization/terrorism is effectively this at a larger collective scale. People don’t just suddenly wake up one day wanting to murder a bunch of civilians. Such animosity is trans-generational and deeply rooted.

What are some of the ingredients to radicalization?

  • Lack of opportunity. (infrastructure in rubble)
  • Lack of education. (schools now in rubble.)
  • A deep feeling of being oppressed or a perceived injustice unresolved. (lack of free travel, blockades, territorial annexation)
  • Pure desperation or loss of all hope. (orphans, parents who lost their kids).

That isn’t to excuse it, but to understand it and hint at solutions.

Ultimately religion to paraphrase Seneca is a source of hope for the downtrodden, a tool for the powerful, and an excuse for the wicked. It’s why you see such an overlap with extremism.

I’m pro-civilian above all else. When Hamas attacked Israel on October 7th, I condemned it. When Israel inflicted dozens of October 7ths upon civilians of Gaza, I too have continued to condemn it.

The Palestinian children suffering and being murdered are not Hamas and they deserve the right to live. They can’t even vote.

True, he’s just so well known for the ongoing genocide and decades of oppression of the Palestinian population that the corruption charges are so easy to forget. Definitely helps put into perspective just how evil this man is.

MBFC calls both The Guardian and Breitbart “MIXED” in their factual accuracy. For Breitbart? It’s because they’re an alt-right disinformation factory which as a policy denies fundamental and provably true scientific facts like climate change, spreads baseless, trivially disproven conspiratorial nonsense, and intentionally misleads readers left and right. For The Guardian? Well they’ve failed five fact checks in the last five years, and these fact checks are as robust as, umm…

From memory if you dig further most of those five have been retracted or corrected by The Guardian too. Apparently this does not impact the factuality rating in this case although I have seen MBFC make special note of corrections issued when it comes to other publications.
