The Effects of Immigration in Denmark

People on this website seem to be confused about views in Europe and why people are turning away from immigration. Here is a very data driven article about immigration. If we ignore data we are lost.

People look at the growing far right in Europe and on this website seem to be asking why that is happening. I’m posting this because it will help people understand the situation in Europe and where peoples views are coming from.

“First, I briefly summarize statistics on the fiscal impact of immigration in Denmark, taken from an official government report. Second, I add my own analysis on violent crime conviction rates by nation of origin. Together they give a more complete overview of immigration in Denmark.”

Lower class citizens and by extension the vast majority of immigrants are not treated very well by the official danish institutions. It is no surprise to me that many give up prospects and stay in (or turn to) a life of crime. This article is dumb.

To me this just shows effect but not cause. And doesn’t draw on correlation either. The last point describes it the best. There are absolutely no socioeconomic factors taken into account. It’s just raw data that can play right into a racists hands.

This is really interesting. I’ve never seen the raw data so clearly before. Thanks 👍

I mean, it’s good to collect statistics, but this has literally zero context on why any of these statistics are what they are.

Why non-western immigrants have a net negative financial contribution? Not asked or hypothesized.

Why non-western immigrants have a higher crime rate? Not asked or hypothesized.

When you present statistics like this, with literally zero broader context, it feels like you’re just doing 13/50 but European.

Wanderer OP ,

That’s an unfair comparison because one is about citizens and the other is about immigrants. Immigration is a choice and a privilege, looking after citizens isn’t.

So if I used a stereotype about Latino immigrants, it would be a more apt comparison for Europe?

My point still stands that data without any context can be almost as harmful as no data at all.

Wanderer OP , (edited )

If Latino immigrants cost the US more than they gain. Then the US is financially better off not taking them.

People try to hide the data. If more analysis comes out about it then great. But currently the data is largely hidden and ignored. This is the best their is right now.

Is it though? This sounds rather conspiratorial. A major part of my last job was literally analyzing U.S. Immigration and it’s effects on our economy positive and negative. There seemed to be a very very very large amount of research on the topic last I checked.

I’m sure the EU member governments are doing the exact same kind of research on their immigration and will come to the same conclusion. That Immigration can pay off massively, but that the payoff is reliant on integration effort and having jobs open for them.

Overall historically all Immigration in the U.S has paid off, sure our economy might have struggled to accept massive population growth sometimes, but in the end that population growth allowed for far greater and faster economic growth.

Bro you can just say that you don’t like brown people.
