What $61bn US aid boost could mean for Ukraine

A $61bn package of military aid for Ukraine could be signed off within days. So what weapons might it receive and what difference could they make in trying to stem Russian advances?

Air defence systems, mid to long-range missiles and artillery shells remain the most pressing weaponry needed by Ukraine.

Here is where the US aid could go in these three areas.

What site even is this? Seems illegitimate.

In any case, what does this have to do with Ukraine’s defense? Even if the article were true, should we not support Ukraine because the First Lady bought jewelry?

If the implication is that the aid money goes to buying the First Lady jewelry that’s a total joke. Almost all of it goes to American arms manufacturers. It doesn’t even leave the United States.

Edit: Yup… made up.

Looking at the dates of Zelenska’s visit and other surrounding information, the claim is almost certainly made up.

The receipt in the video is dated September 22, 2023, when Zelenska was in Ottawa, Canada, with Zelensky. The pair visited the Canadian Parliament in Ottawa, with Zelensky giving an address mid-afternoon that day.

It arguably gets better than that - the 61 billion was already spent on making the things; Ukraine isn’t just getting $61 billion handed over to it lol

That source is shit. Did you even look at it? Holy shit

phoneymouse ,

Did I even look at it? I quoted it in my reply. So, yah!

As for sources, you yourself have provided one no one has even heard of before. And, no one has even heard of you before with your one day old account and single post about this topic, so maybe try a little harder next time if you’re going to spread Russian propaganda.

We will know soon enough. The conga line of C130s will form around Tuesday afternoon.

Denmark, the Netherlands and the US expect to deliver the first of dozens of “Vipers” to Ukraine within months. The jets won’t be a game-changer but another significant arrow in the quiver for Kyiv.

How do these compare to Russia’s jet fighters?

Ehhhhh.

For rocket artillery, Russia also has the Smerch:

en.wikipedia.org/wiki/BM-30_Smerch

With the appropriate munitions, that can do 200 km.

They’re using a range number for the M777 for the Excalibur ammunition, 40 km, so it seems fair to compare it against other long-range munitions.

For tube artillery, Russia has the Pion:

en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2S7_Pion

With the appropriate ammunition, WP says that can reach 47.5 km.

EDIT: Note, for completeness, that Ukraine also has both of these, and for both of these, accuracy is somewhat-limited.

I wanted to say the same. However GLSDB is being supplied in regular quantities now, so that has some more range. But comparing XR smart shells to normal munitions is just silly indeed.

At this point munition quantities is the issue for Ukraine, and munitions quality is the issue for Russia.

it’s funny they show himars and compare it to the m270. It’s the same missile. The only difference is the launch platform. For some reason people think the f16 will be a game changer. It won’t. Might even be an issue since Ukraine has no experience using them. They require lot of support and better runways.
