Studied a bit, still very much armchair.

My viewpoint is the increase in isolationist policies with the current trend towards resource and food shortages - look after their own so to speak. Can be easily countered with the argument that they always were isolationist anyway.

Other is that their trade is moving towards a new ally, building strength in a different area… not naming any China or Russia in particular.
