Blinken carries Arab message to Israel: keep Palestinian state hope alive

U.S. Secretary of State Antony Blinken, on his latest mission to rein in the Gaza war, told Israeli leaders on Tuesday there was still a chance of winning acceptance from their Arab neighbours, if they create a path to a viable Palestinian state.

On his fourth trip to the region since October in a so far largely fruitless quest to tamp down the violence, Blinken said he would share what he had heard in two days of talks with Jordan, Qatar, the United Arab Emirates and Saudi Arabia.

His talks would include a meeting with the Israeli war cabinet formed in the wake of the Oct. 7 attacks by Palestinian militants from Hamas, which rules Gaza, that Israel says killed 1,200 people.

This clown shouldn’t be given any airtime. His direct report is always finding all sorts of loopholes to circumvent and approve funds to send to blood thirsty Netanyahu. The blood of Palestianian children is equally on Israel’s hands as much as it is on U.S’ hands.

I know this soft pushing is all he can do, but I really don’t think Netanyahu is listening. Pretty sure this has just turned into a generic landgrab, just like all the others through the centuries.

This is not a new thing in the world.

They can do much much more when they want to.

Candelestine ,

Only by violating a signed treaty. We really tried to give that up a lot of years ago, though it was very common for us in the more distant past.

It’s the kind of America Trump is referring to as the “greatness” he wants back.

Well, for example the US immediately scrambled to talk to Lebanon and work to actually avoid a war in Lebanon. They can immediately put pressure when they want to. The idea that they are helpless is just used to justify what they are doing now and throw smoke in the eyes as to their guilt and complicity.

Candelestine ,

We can threaten Lebanon with an aircraft carrier. We cannot threaten a treaty ally with an aircraft carrier, just doesn’t work the same.

Even so, I’d say we just delayed. Netanyahu is probably going to attack Lebanon as soon as he finishes in Gaza, just to prolong the war and save his own ass from his own people, who are not happy with him.

My guess anyway.

Well, they actually warned and desuaded Israel from a greater conflict. The tone they used was more direct, and harsher than anything they said when Israel is killing thousand of children.

Candelestine ,

I don’t know, I think our tone has been pretty soft on Netanyahu the whole way around. Regarding what’s publicly known anyway.
