I wouldn’t blame these kids for taking extreme action later in life at the regime that killed their entire family. The only sensible option here is ceasefire.

bezerker03 ,

Why would they do ceasefire though? Every time they have done it they’ve broken it.

Like it’s been tried several times now. And it hasn’t worked.

NoneOfUrBusiness ,

Just to be clear, you mean Israel has broken the ceasefire, right?

DoomBot5 ,

No, Hamas has repeatedly broken the ceasefires every time. There was one ongoing during October 7th as well. This latest one was broken by Hamas no less than 5 times, but Israel let most of those slide.

NoneOfUrBusiness ,

I tried to look up that ceasefire you were talking about but couldn't find it.

DoomBot5 ,

The one Hamas broke on October 7th? It started after the last time Hamas broke the ceasefire by firing thousands of rockets at Israel, at which point Israel went into Gaza, did a little clearing of terrorist launch sites, then promptly agreed on another ceasfire.

bezerker03 ,

A very quick search of Gaza and Wikipedia gives you all the info you need. The last cease fire was put in place May 13th 2023 prior to Oct 7th. Prior to that there was one in 2019 that lasted for 48 hours on paper before being breached by Palestinian militants. There were limits skirmishes until April 2023 when more rockets were fired by Hamas and Lebanon. Israel launched operation shield and arrow and then that May ceasefire prevailed until Oct 7th when Israel declared Hamas action a full on declaration of war and decided to stop pulling the punches and just end this shit.

NoneOfUrBusiness ,

Wasn't the May 13th ceasefire signed with PIJ? Also why do Israeli ceasefires allow them to continue blockading Gaza again? Blockades are supposed to be an act of war.

mwguy ,

No, the country launching attacks and rockets, Gaza has been breaking the cease fires.

NoneOfUrBusiness ,

I also asked the other guy, but I couldn't find anything about a ceasefire that was ongoing in October 2023.

DoomBot5 ,

Just because you understand very little about the situation there and can’t seem to do your own research, doesn’t mean you’re right.

mwguy ,

The ceasefire they signed at the end of their last conflict was in place.

xc2215x ,

Things have gotten so out of hand in Gaza. What a shame.

NoneOfUrBusiness ,

They've been out of hand for 70+ years, but yeah.

Its not the IDF alone. It is all the nations that didn’t say anything and keeping quite while this is continue to happen.

    bezerker03 ,

After Oct 7th what can you do? The footage from that day that we’ve seen is beyond some of the sickest shit we’ve seen in years. And it’s just the tip of the ice berg compared to what is being aired to governments.

Israel literally has rockets shot at it daily and then these so called “freedom fighters” came and killed elderly and tried to chop their heads off with a garden hoe while he’s still alive.

Let alone the fact that many of the hostages were cheered on and taken by citizens (not Hamas) and the citizens returned escapees back to Hamas… It’s really hard not to believe that Israel absolutely needs to remove and destroy Hamas. It’s also not unreasonable to expect them to attack Hamas infrastructure before sending in ground troops, especially when the citizens are on their side.

The alternative is … Ask for another ceasefire and watch the rockets keep coming?

    NoneOfUrBusiness ,

So the thing is, the blockade of Gaza (let alone the occupation that has been going on since 1967) is an act of war. When you commit an act of war, you get attacked. If Israel wanted Hamas to not attack them, they'd stop their occupation of Gaza (and the rest of Palestine).

Also about the ceasefire part, If Israel had kept its ceasefires we wouldn't have this mess.

    DoomBot5 ,

The blockade was started because Hamas repeatedly attacked Israel after they pulled out of Gaza to let them self govern. It would do you good to get your history straight.

    NoneOfUrBusiness ,

The blockade started when Israel pulled out, before anybody had the chance to do anything. It was then tightened in 2007. You should get your history straight.

    DoomBot5 ,

Another instance of you having your history wrong and understanding nothing of the situation.

    Doorbook ,

Okay i guess we just let IDF continue bombs these houses and fuck the children, you know what the IDF should steal their bikes as well.

    febra ,

I’d expect elected officials to think with their brains and not act out of emotion. Besides that, if you want to have the same feelings about innocents being subjected to abject horror just take a look at all the videos of people dying right now in Gaza. If that’s what you need to find humanity, might as well look it up.

    mwguy ,

They are thinking with their brains. Hamas has been very clear that they will, if given the chance repeat their attacks as often and severely as they can. An independent, self governing Gaza is no longer tolerable. Instead it will be partitioned up and occupied like the West Bank.

    NoneOfUrBusiness ,

It is occupied. The UN considers Gaza already under Israeli occupation because of the blockade.

    mwguy ,

And there’s a definition of occupied that makes that true. However the colloquial definition of occupied generally involves actual militaries actually occupying actual territory.

Few would consider the North during the American Civil War to be occupying the south because of it’s blockade. The same with Britian vs. Napoleonic Europe or Britain with WW1 era Germany (again during the war).

Tbh the fact that the UN already sees it as occupied makes it easier to justify an actual occupation.

    NoneOfUrBusiness ,

The thing is: The difference between these and Gaza is that Gaza is a tiny strip of land. Controlling their exports and imports allows you to turn their economy on and off. Israel has more say in whether Gazans have food to eat than Hamas. That's an occupation.

    mwguy ,

Well now they’ll be double occupied! - the UN probably

This is the best summary I could come up with:

“There is no lonelier place in this universe than around the bed of a wounded child who has no more family to look after them,” British doctor Ghassan Abu Sittah, who is working in Gaza City, posted online.

Some of this is done through an inter-country social work team who undertake assessments of family members overseas to see if it would be in the child’s best interests to live with them.

In Gaza, groups working with refugees said there had already been a huge demand for psychosocial support and counselling for young people before the latest war.

“Now with the trauma, PTSD and depression children are going through, it can only be getting worse,” said Tamara Alrifai from the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees (UNRWA).

He said: “I need to find out why someone thought it was a good idea to ask my wife which part of the hospital I’m in, who paid for my ticket, and which charity I work for.”

“Having identified that the man had left the UK for humanitarian purposes, the officers signposted the occupant to current FCDO advice.”
