No worse than some strong chili peppers.

I’m sorry but if you recommend an hour long video to start a debate you’re not going to have much success…

because I have never heard of this argument before, ever. most media’s stance on politics is “their party bad our party good”, but the “all the parties are pretty hypocritical” argument has never been explored properly, because its depressing and nobody likes it.

dependencyinjection , in What are your opinions on train strikes?

These affected my commute to work, but I support people striking as I would want the same support if I ever needed to strike.

Yep, if you visit London as a Northerner it's very clear where the money is going. In retrospect, the Northern legs of HS2 were never going to happen - the money saved being diverted to fix London's potholes was the icing on the cake.

OhNoMoreLemmy ,

I mean it’s worth remembering that some of the poorest areas in the country are in London. citymonitor.ai/…/uk-census-tower-hamlets-has-the-…

Basically, the government doesn’t give a shit about poor people regardless of where they live. They just want to ensure that hedge fund managers living in Surrey can commute into their London office with a minimum of inconvenience.

NigelFrobisher ,

Yeah, even London isn’t all that. It’s more like a third world country bolted onto the Square Mile, and the same thing is now happening to Ireland.

Digital Signal Processing?

I’m not going but was curious what DSP was/is?

squid_slime OP ,

Democratic Socialist Party, a political party 😊

theskyisfalling ,

Thanks. I presumed it wasn’t signal processing but a quick search didn’t pull any results for me and was curious :)

squid_slime OP , (edited )

DSP need to work on their advertising game lol.

squid_slime OP ,

Thank you

Tagger ,

No problem. Hope you had a good day

cai ,

Do you mean the SDP, or is the party literally un-Googleable?

Combining the unsearchability with me trying to keep social democratic vs democratic socialism straight in my mind, I am very confused...

TotallyNotSpez , in Off to the DSP conference in bristol

No, but I’m super jealous about hanging out in Bristol. I love that city. Enjoy and have a good time there. :)

Edit: Bristol UK, right?

squid_slime OP ,

Fursure, I lived in Bristol for a while before retreating south, stunning city 😍😍 lol UK yea

TotallyNotSpez ,

Awesome, there’s such a great and vibrant art & music scene in that city, I miss it a lot.

Have a grand time there and do me a favour: drink a pint of Newcastle in a small pub for me while you’re there. Cheers!

squid_slime OP ,

A half 😉 more of a wine drinker

TotallyNotSpez ,

Fair enough! 😄 Sláinte!

(Yup, former Dublin lassie here)

squid_slime OP ,

Lovely my family are Derry, now Ireland is truely stunning, not Derry though but Ireland for trail walking there are some beautiful sights.

TotallyNotSpez ,

Used to live in Greystones aka British Bray for a good long while. Cliff walk Bray to Greystones over Bray Head is great. But nothing beats the Wicklow Mountains for hiking. Truly breathtaking nature. There’s also great hiking tracks around Belfast.

squid_slime OP ,

Sounds lovely hopefully I can see some trails when I’m next over in Ireland 😁

“Right lads, 'eres the job: £134k bars of the finest, ripe for the taking.”

“£134k? Weight’s gonna be a problem. That Luton crew got done last year overloading with £90k of Yorkies.”

“Not a problem 'ere, lad, know what I’m saying?”

“… … … Buenos? Son of a bitch, I’m in.”

😂😂😂 phoned a mate about this this morning and his first question was, “did they get the white chocolate ones”? There’s clearly a market for over £100,000 of chocolate 😂

DJDarren ,

Half a Freddo, that.

actionjbone , in What are your opinions on train strikes?

Very dangerous. When a train in motion strikes an object, severe damage will occur.

WarmSoda , in What are your opinions on train strikes?

I personally don’t think anyone should hit another person with a train.
