It’s my understanding that Mastodon and Lemmy work together well in the Fediverse. I CAN see my Beehaw account from Mastodon, as well as other user accounts, but have difficulty understanding how I can specially find and follow Beehaw and/or other Lemmy instance content via Mastodon....
I just got a pretty good deal on an old ThinkPad (think 10 years old now) to use as a beater for screwing with ArchLinux and hopefully to find a real use for. It’s in great shape like it was never really used, but big shock, the battery is at 50% effective capacity and what’s there disappears in less than an hour....
We can all go home now....
Perhaps I’ve misunderstood how Lemmy works, but from what I can tell Lemmy is resulting in fragmentation between communities. If I’ve got this wrong, or browsing Lemmy wrong, please correct me!...
Hey everyone. If you want to post links or discuss the Reddit blackout, please localize it to this thread in order to keep things tidy!
I joined Facebook years ago not long after it took off from its college roots. I also quit it years ago when my feed became full of junk....
I joined mastodon.xyz a few years ago and never had any problems. Then today I tried to sign on and couldn’t. The server simply isn’t reachable. I can (and have) created a new instanceuaccount on a new server, but losing all my data has me concerned. What should I do with my new account so I don’t lose everything if this...
I’ve been fascinated by single-purpose devices such as iPods for music, flip-phones for communication, and e-readers for ebooks. Considering that my interest for these devices has reached an all-time high, I was wondering: Why has the iPod died out while e-readers continue to thrive and see growth? Don’t they both serve the...

These are all products that I legitimately like and want to engage with, but linking them all to a single account and more importantly a shared recommendation engine feels very flawed....
I just set up all the subreddits I still want to following in Reeder, an RSS app. I’m able scroll through the posts ad free. It the occurred to me that this is a loss of revenue to Reddit. Could RSS be the new target for onerous fees?...
I’m pretty new to the whole Lemmy thing, but I figured I’d ask peoples’ opinions on whether it’s worth it to get into Mastodon too now that I’m officially a member of the Fediverse....
just so this doesn’t overwhelm our front page too much, i think now’s a good time to start consolidating discussions. existing threads will be kept up, but unless a big update comes let’s try to keep what’s happening in this thread instead of across 10....
I’m mostly asking this question for smartphones, but I’m also just generally curious how others approach this....
Just another Reddit migrator - thanks.
I've been using Piped (non-tracking alternative front end) and the video quality dropped a wee while ago. Just trying to work out where the problem is. Same video was much clearer on youtube than through Piped....
Hey guys I want to build an all flash nas myself, and have been looking for a SBC with at least 2 m.2 nvme slots, the more the merrier.
Just save this as karma.py and run it with Python 3.6 or higher....
I don’t post on reddit since I know how futile it is to create any change given its size, but given Lemmy is small I might as well give it a try here....
(Please provide your Lemmy app recommendations in the comments)...
So I'm in the process of switching from Spotify to Tidal for my music streaming (since Tidal pays artists like three times more than Spotify does). The only problem is, Tidal doesn't support podcasts, which is another big thing I used Spotify for....
