I’m not sure if my meaning was clear… I don’t only read papers I find in the news, but that is where I find out about the majority that I do read… not being an actual scientist.
Therefore my opinion on a press release being common is likely invalid. As papers mentioned in the mainstream press are likely to have landed there because of a press release.
