Speaking of E-bikes, some sailers are using big E-bike hub motors at higher voltage (usually 72) and with ferrofluid cooled stators to produce about 8kw at the prop or about 10 1/2 HP, and under sail using the prop to turn the motor as a generator to recharge the batteries. That lets them get in and out of port or out of being becalmed without having a gas motor on board. Fuel cost: zero. CO2 output: zero. Range: limited only by time.
