During the Six Day War the Israelis attacked a US ship, the USS Liberty. It's widely believed that this was a case of mistaken identity, but here's the thing: the USS Liberty's job was to monitor communications from both sides. So it's possible the Israelis didn't want the Americans to know what they were up to; they were about to attack the Golan Heights after having offered a cease fire to Syria (which Syria had not yet accepted).

Just like today where they're deliberately murdering journalists to prevent the world and particularly Americans from knowing what they're up to in Gaza.

The Israelis also "accidentally" killed a bunch of UNEF personnel during that war.

The Israeli government admitted to the June 8, 1967 attack by Israeli Defense Forces on the American "spy" ship USS Liberty. The Liberty was an intelligence gathering ship. In that attack, on an American ship in the Eastern Mediterranean during the Six-Day War, 33 U.S. military personnel and one National Security Agency crewmember were killed, 175 were wounded with enough damage to the ship to end her useful life. With many questions unanswered, President Lyndon Johnson's administration along with the Government of Israel would enter into a conspiracy to cover-up the matter by agreeing it was a case of "mistaken identity". The chief JAG officer to the Naval Court of Inquiry would claim the Court succumbed to political pressure and became part of the cover-up. Orders were that no U.S. personnel were to confront or investigate the Israelis.
