@mark@dianeduane I wish she'd be more active here. One of the reasons I'm still perusing #tumblr is that Diane, @neilhimself and Wil Wheaton are there, and not much hier (yet?).
I know Wil had a horrible experience with #mastodon when he gave it a shot, so I'm not hoping to see him back anytime soon. 😩
@neilhimself@globcoco@mark@dianeduane Thanks for the link Neil, I knew I had read the story at some point!
The whole thing is regrettable, to say the least. Hatemongers are indeed a plague on social media and one of the reasons I've given (mostly) up on it too.
If it gets to my stomach without being the subject of hate, I shiver at imagining how it must have felt for others, like Wil, who have been (and are) gratuitously attacked.
Try to be kind fo real. It ain't that hard.
@neilhimself@globcoco@I_am_elena@mark I’d heard some of this, but hadn’t seen Wil’s more detailed post—thanks to Neil for the link. This is heartbreaking, and all the more so due to the sheer cruelty of it… and for being absolutely undeserved. :/
@neilhimself@globcoco@I_am_elena@mark@dianeduane This makes me so sad. I've been following Wil on various platforms and media for I don't even know how long -- decades, I guess. I've never seen him to be anything other than a kind, generous, funny, good-hearted individual. Shame on the fedizens responsible for driving him away. We can and must be better than this.
I just wish I'd known he was on Mastodon at some point so I could give him some encouragement.
