[GUIDE] Play DODI/FitGirl repacks on Linux with Lutris

Hi, I recently discovered a post that finally allowed me to run the known repacks on Linux, so I decided to summarize everything and share it with you here on Lemmy; let me know if you would improve some steps to make the procedure even easier to follow.

Requirements

lutris, protonup-qt, wine-staging

Set Up Lutris


<span style="color:#323232;">1. Open Lutris > Preferences > Global Options
</span><span style="color:#323232;">2. Enable "Show advanced options"
</span><span style="color:#323232;">3. "Disable Lutris Runtime" (off)
</span><span style="color:#323232;">4. "Disable Desktop effects" (on)
</span><span style="color:#323232;">5. "Disable Screen Saver" (on)
</span><span style="color:#323232;">5. "Enable Feral GameMode" (on)
</span><span style="color:#323232;">6. Save
</span>

Wine Versions Management


<span style="color:#323232;">1. Open ProtonUp-Qt > choose Lutris > Add version
</span><span style="color:#323232;">2. Choose and Install (ignore -LoL versions; Wine-GE suggested)
</span><span style="color:#323232;">3. Restart Lutris
</span>

Install Windows Repacks


<span style="color:#323232;">1. Open Lutris > + > Add locally installed game
</span><span style="color:#323232;">2. Type the name of your game
</span><span style="color:#323232;">3. Select Wine as Runner
</span><span style="color:#323232;">4. Go to "Game options" tab
</span><span style="color:#323232;">5. In "Wine prefix" create "/home/user/Games/your-game"
</span><span style="color:#323232;">6. Go to "Runner options" tab
</span><span style="color:#323232;">7. On "Wine version" select the version you prefer
</span><span style="color:#323232;">8. Save
</span><span style="color:#323232;">    8-1. (If FitGirl Repack)
</span><span style="color:#323232;">    8-2. Click on the game your just added
</span><span style="color:#323232;">    8-3. On the botton panel click the "Up" icon near the "Platform: Windows" text
</span><span style="color:#323232;">    8-4. Run EXE inside Wine prefix
</span><span style="color:#323232;">    8-5. Open the .bat file inside the FitGirl repack
</span><span style="color:#323232;">    8-6. Wait then "Install"
</span><span style="color:#323232;">    8-7 Wait the "Checking fg-01.bin" window and "All files OK"
</span><span style="color:#323232;">    8-8 Close the window
</span><span style="color:#323232;">9. Click on the game your just added
</span><span style="color:#323232;">10. On the botton panel click the "Up" icon near the "Platform: Windows" text
</span><span style="color:#323232;">11. Run EXE inside Wine prefix
</span><span style="color:#323232;">12. Open the "setup.exe" file inside your repack
</span><span style="color:#323232;">13. Wait; click "Install" if any installation prompt appears
</span><span style="color:#323232;">14. Follow the DODI/FitGirl installer
</span><span style="color:#323232;">    14-1. Use "C:" as destination
</span><span style="color:#323232;">    14-2. Don't create a desktop icon or a start menu entry
</span><span style="color:#323232;">    14-3. Deselect every option that starts with "Update" for eg: "Update DirectX"
</span><span style="color:#323232;">15. After the installation > right click on the game > Configure
</span><span style="color:#323232;">16. Go to "Game Options" tab
</span><span style="color:#323232;">17. In "Executable" put "/home/user/Games/your-game/drive_c/Your Game/your_game.exe"
</span><span style="color:#323232;">18. Save
</span><span style="color:#323232;">19. (optional) Right click on your game > Create desktop shortcut

For Game Audio Issues
Install xact with winetricks - This is needed to fix an audio error in wine.

Thats crazy, I just simply run the .exe through Lutris and run the game after install lol

It’s much simpler and faster than it seems! Also consider that the setup of Lutris and Wine is to be done only once.
