API/Database for TV Series?

Recently I decided to start my own hoard of movies and TV series. However, I don’t like the naming each different uploader chooses to use. Often times, the naming of those files contains irrelevant information. While that does no harm, having OCD makes me want to clean the naming and get rid of all the unnecessary bits. Getting to the point of this post, would anyone happen to know of, or could point me to an API or database that I could use to grab names of episodes of a series? I’m slowly learning python and thought it’d be a fun little challenge for myself to get some practice in and write some code to automate the process where possible.
