why would anyone willingly go to lebanon. it’s a country with cold civil war, only marginally more stable than syria, perpetual shitshow since it was an independent country

To visit relatives mostly. And it’s a big tourist destination in the Muslim world because of some more permissive laws regarding alcohol and the like.

My coworker is Lebanese, and his mom is in Beirut. An Israeli bomb actually cracked a window of her’s a couple weeks ago. That the US is signaling this doesn’t bode well.
