Rather than creating more new communities centralized on lemmy world, why not try and revive the existing !sonic and !metroid?

I don’t think that’s necessarily a reason not to use them. Even if the mods are gone, some subscribers will still be there. It’s easier to revive existing communities than to start over from scratch. I’ve also found that instance admins are usually fairly open to replacing inactive moderators with active ones. You could try contacting admins like @atomicpeach and @beneeney and see if you can work something out.

I think creating new versions of existing dormant communities on different instances only serves to further fragment the userbase. Just my two cents :)
