The misuse of this meme is one of my biggest meme pet peeves. Have people forgotten that in that scene, his vision is clear when he's not wearing glasses? So the meme should be the other way around.
That isn’t what gaslighting means. The term refers to a type of psychological abuse involving the denial of a person’s own reality as a means of gaining power and control of a victim. It is not simply suggestion.
the farmer saying he treats the animals like family, which one might imply means he treats them well. but his family has to secretly run away from him due to abuse (insinuated by the wife quickly leaving with the kids). this mean he probably also abuses the animals, which is opposite of the implied meaning.
Pretty sure it’s less about abuse, and more the fact that the animals are slaughtered. He says he treats the animals like family, that implies he will also kill and eat his family at some point…
