My favourite part of any David Dickinson show was watching the cameraman battle with the white balance.

You either got a guest that looked like Casper the friendly ghost, or David looking like he’d bathed in Ronseal.

My staying home from school starter pack would be:

• big breakfast on channel four
• a read through of Digitiser on Teletext for gaming news and the latest on Mr T’s bins and his feud with Phil Mitchell
• the crystal maze on channel four after the big breakfast
• lucozade original, red stuff before they took out all the sugar
• Heinz chicken soup
• ren and stimpy and super nintendo
