There have been multiple accounts created with the sole purpose of posting advertisement posts or replies containing unsolicited advertising.
Accounts which solely post advertisements, or persistently post them may be terminated.
lckdscl , 11 months ago I think this is the solution to the problem OP is having, the same thing happened to my instance since I used configs before this was spotted, after changing it to match this commit, the subscriptions work again, but only new posts come in.
