The Bromite project has been inactive for the last 9 months or so. Today I found this fork of Bromite that’s well maintained and seems to work flawlessly. Hope it helps others who were looking for a replacement.

While the Pixel 6 ushered in three years of major Android OS version updates and an additional two for security patches, that’s still nowhere near the longevity of the iPhone. Google hopes to change that on the Pixel 8 and 8 Pro with noticeably more OS updates.

As you may well know, Fairphone is a company that originally arose from a kickstarter campaign and makes phones that are as easily repairable, as sustainable and as fairly sourced as possible. They do have their issues, but compared to other big phone companies they’ve done a great job with this....
tl;dr: Messenger Lite, Meta’s “less than 10MB to download” lightweight version of Messenger, will no longer be available on Android after Sep 18, as Meta redirects users to the Messenger app. The main Messenger app will also drop SMS support next month.
