I appreciate Google taking Wear OS design seriously, especially regarding design cohesiveness, but I do wonder if forcing black backgrounds in every case is a good idea. It looks better in the menu, but I prefer that media UI with a colour splash. The lack of any distinguishing elements in Wear OS apps makes them feel more like “menus for your phone but on your wrist” than “actual apps for your watch”.
Connect for Lemmy at the moment, as it has a very similar interface to sync, but I’ve signed up to be notified when Sync for Lemmy drops. Sync had everything I wanted for my Reddit app, and I’m hoping for a similar interface for Lemmy when it arrives.
It seems like the future for Lemmy is pretty bright with all these amazing apps switching over.
It’s a shame that Christian decided to not develop Apollo for Lemmy for the time being. I bet that would also convince a fair share of users to abandon ship.
I actually paid for all Reddit third-party apps with Google Opinion Rewards at some point because I wanted to find the “best” one. Turns out they all looked terrible or didn’t have moderation features, so I had to settle with Slide.
I’d also be happy to pay for it if it was open source. Having a free version on F-Droid and a paid one on the Play Store for convenience would be awesome.
I have the Edge+. I wanted a Pixel like experience with the benefits of a Snapdragon 8 Gen2. It has generally delivered. The battery life is exceptional in every way. It lasts a long time and also charges in under an hour.
The camera isn't great. For the specific thing I really judge it on, photos of my pets, it's between the Pixel and Galaxy.
I have a case on mine, so the edges do in some ways help with gesture navigation. I'll say it's a little offset on the bottom edge because it feels like all elements on the bottom part of the screen are too low. Fingerprint scanner (although this one is easy to get used to), camera shutter, and the homescreen app shortcuts.
As a whole package, I'm much more satisfied with it than the Pixel 7 Pro. The update situation will be much worse, but it just feels less urgent than it used to. I'm hopeful they can at least make good on their security update promises.
