I keep seeing communities on lemmy writing in their bio “not official” or in some way deferring to the reddit community. I also see them writing that they’re willing to give up their community to the reddit mods if they ask. It’s like the whole place has imposter syndrome....

Just something I've been reminded of while watching everyone discuss all the Reddit alternatives
Is how easily mods have caved in once the admins threatened to remove them. I had thought we’d see quite a few cases where Reddit would have to step in an replace entire mod teams (effectively killing the community). But it seems like that hasn’t happened at all - the closest we’ve got is mods being reordered....
kbin.social was the first thing on the recommended list.
I want to subscribe to this magazine on another instance, but it doesn't seem to let me.

Another update and possibly a solution for some case where posts were not properly deleted. Seems I jumped the gun on this and the restores haven't been intentional - at least not in this particular case....

Spez, and Reddit as a whole is basically counting on most subreddits opening back up tomorrow after the 48-hour period....
I have been joking to a couple of friends today who were also redditors that I've been feeling withdrawals from reddit throughout the day. Like I knew I was addicted, I just never thought I was going to have to face the consequences of withdrawals!...
As of 12:56pm GMT (7:56am central time), 7742/8299 subreddits are no longer public...
Obviously this migration is all about 3rd party apps. Do any even exist yet for kbin?
Reddit went through some issues for many on Monday, with the outage happening the same day as thousands of subreddits going dark to protest the site’s new API pricing terms....
I'm feeling a real positive energy and community spirit as a result of the sudden fragmentation of reddit's foundational use base....
