I was obsessed with Wizardry and Ultima growing up… but I can’t stomach the node-based, turn-based conceit any more. I had a hard time finishing Wizardry 8 back in… ok, maybe I don’t want to know how long ago that was.
But I was spoiled by the real-time evolutions of the concept… stuff like Arena, Daggerfall, Battlespire, Ultima Underworld, Descent to Undermountain, and the like (also, shout-out to Arx Fatalis).
I would love more epic dungeon crawlers, with the soul of these classics but all the modern conveniences, graphics, and gameplay advances.
I barely touch my PC these days. Steam deck everywhere. Playing all the games I bought but never got around to. Crysis 2, mass effect, LA noire. Amazing piece of kit,
They mentioned Divinity: Original Sin 2 which is no surprise. I couldn’t be bothered to finish Act 2. It’s unforgiving, takes a very long time and becomes a bit stale after a while. I know it wasn’t that way for most players. But I fear I’d have the same sentiment with Baldur’s Gate 3.
This game is so freaking bad. I can’t understand the good press it’s getting for such janky, obviously ripped off gameplay. If it wasn’t a $30 preview I could forgive it but my few hours with it from gamepass were so hilariously bad I’m not so sure this isn’t some massive troll by everyone.
Immortals:Fenix Rising crossed with Pokémon crossed with Tunic and is bad at all of them.
do they? It is hard to concentrate so long on something to be able to master it this way. As a child I couldnt do any thing requiring a little bit of concentration, even video game more than 2h… watchning tv mindlessly, I stull can do it for hours on end
I have the Roguelike tag filtered from Steam because I’ve hated it so much (yes, even Hades) but I really love Backpack Hero. It’s certainly a bit easier, but that gives you space to discover fun builds.
Now that the story mode is in, you can even use an easy run as an opportunity to fill more of your pack with treasure, as opposed to crucial combo items.
