Why did Polygon include the CTWC video at the top of their page instead of BlueScuti's?

They are already stealing his views reposting his entire video with some bullshit commenting from them over the top of it and now Polygon is supporting that kind of behavior.

The kid did the work, give him the damn views.

ttsci ,

Thanks for mentioning the original source! Here’s BlueScuti’s video, to save everyone else some searching. The moment he beats it is here, at 38:30.

My favo games from the past few years. I absolutely adored every single one of them. Sad to see them go. This final dlc is on the expensive side imo, but I got them all, just to show support. I do very much look forward to playing them.

Mummelpuffin , to gaming in The human cost of 2023's devastating game industry layoffs
@Mummelpuffin@beehaw.org avatar

“It feels like there’s thousands of us competing for a handful of jobs,”

Isn’t that pretty much it? Everyone wants to make video games. All of the sudden everyone wants to invest in video game development because they realized there’s money in it. But video games are a big commitment for consumers (compared to most consumables), we literally only have so much time to dedicate them and there’s SO MANY GODDAMN GAMES. Like, an Eldritch horror inducing amount of video games if you have FOMO. And that’s still a drop in the ocean compared to all the people who want to make video games. Hundreds if not thousands of cool games go completely unnoticed by basically everyone every month, seemingly.

There’s a bizarre sort of supply / demand triangle going on.

WoW is a distant memory at this point but I do always love watching the expansion cinematics. I liked the more reserved tone of this expansion’s, it was well acted. Even if I have no idea what’s going on.

Maybe something like “Which companies are giving us the biggest commission on referrals currently?”

@TeaHands@lemmy.world avatar

Someone gifted me Stellaris a couple of years back and honestly, I’ve played it off an on but always seem to bounce off it despite usually loving 4X games.

I’m not sure Star Trek branding is going to be enough to pull me in if the core gameplay is as slow as Stellaris, but I guess it’s all going to come down to price. If anyone needs me in the meantime I’ll be starting a new Stellaris campaign and trying to be more enthusiastic about it this time round!

zepheriths ,

If you really want there is already a mod for star trek on stellaris. It’s called new horizons

TeaHands ,
@TeaHands@lemmy.world avatar

I heard people talking about it but never been motivated to give it a look. Maybe now’s the time :)

zepheriths ,

I will just say this, the mod stretches stellaris to it’s limits, if you want to play the full mod. Expect a half an hour load time. ( the mod loads 3k star systems and 275+ empires.)

Sounds like the local equivalent of Equestria at War for Hearts of Iron (three major continents, many countries on each, timeline expanded into the 1960s).

If you’re trying to do it legally, you can easily to rip your own ps1 games with a drive bay. Haven’t tried it on PS2 or ps3 games. And ps1 emulation runs amazing on phones and raspberry pis.

So my ps1 emulation collection is pretty legit.

We shall not speak of the other consoles.

theComposer , to gaming in Palia is the perfect game for chill vibes, either alone or co-op

I’m still confused about this game. Is it truly an MMO where hundreds of players will be running around the main towns? How will the game handle all these players romancing the same characters, for instance?

Or is it like other multiplayer survival games where it’s just you and your friends sharing a persistent world?

CraigeryTheKid ,

looks like your “home” is instanced and just for you - and then you go out to the “MMO” world.

but even that doesn’t sound like “MMO”, but now every game where you can see someone random online seems to grab that description.

either way, I think it looks worth checking out, since as a man in his 40’s, I am clearly the target audience for happy fun times games like Stardew Valley, Animal Crossing, and Disney Dreamlight.

Spitfire , to gaming in The Lord of the Rings: Gollum developer to close after disastrous launch
@Spitfire@pawb.social avatar

I think the devs just bit off more than they could chew with a game type way outside of their norm.

They’re used to making adventure and point and click games not big titles like they were trying to do for Gollum.

Completely unsurprising. How anyone at the studio thought that was acceptable to release is beyond me.
