I couldn’t even get pass the login screen since I only lurked and never made an account (despite spending over a decade browsing reddit). I remember they used to let you use the app without logging in.
What stops you from reading the book? Sit on the floor. Plenty of space there. Sofas and beds are made for cats primarily. Humans have to ask for permission to use them.
It is a community for sharing and discussion of any left video content and ideas. So, if you can make or find content with a left perspective that focuses on bread, sure! But the name is actually in reference to left author Peter Kropotkin’s The Conquest of Bread. But, I mean, bread is good, too.
Because it is. I think @redpen is trying to say that individual posts/videos may not be explicitly political, but the BreadTube community as a whole definitely is. Kinda the whole point is to take a leftist lens to whatever topic of discussion. There’s not necessarily anything wrong with being political, but there’s not much sense in downplaying it IMO.
Breadtube is a section of youtube of left leaning content creators that focus on a wide array of topics with some sort of leftist lens of analysis, there a lot of video essayists, but there’s also streamers, shitposters, and daily posters.
Some of the big names are Philosophy Tube, Contrapoints, FD Signifier, Beau of the Fifth Column, Vaush, Xanderhal, Suris and a whole bunch of other content creators.
Breadtube as a name comes from Conquest of Bread which is a pretty foundational writing for a lot of leftist thought.
They fixed a lot of load issues as of this morning so it might be okay. Lemmy.world itself already feels way more responsive. You have a point tho, might be better to host a Wine community on more FOSS centric instances.
Oh no doubt about that! I didn’t mean to imply lemmy.world was against foss. I just meant there’s already instances that are very FOSS focused that might be a better fit than lemmy.world which is already overloaded as it is.
I hope that solves lemmy.world essentially DoSing my instance at whatever intervals it would eventually take a turn to post all the stuff that had happened on it since the last flood.
