This thread is goddamned train wreck. If you need to fly with young children, buy a big bag of those el cheapo foam ear plugs and pass them out to whomever wants some.

I don’t have kids, and I have sensory issues that make baby crying noises physically painful, but I get it. Sometimes you need to take your tiny human places, and I just have to deal. It’s a part of life.

RoquetteQueen ,

It’s unreasonable to expect parents to buy you earplugs. If you know you have sensory issues, you need to pack earplugs just in case. That is your responsibility.

FollyDolly ,
@FollyDolly@lemmy.world avatar

Oh I travel with my own earplugs, but sometimes poeple forget. Nothing wrong with looking out for your fellow humans.

EffortlessEffluvium ,

The packs of earplugs aren’t that expensive, and if you can’t get the kids to be reasonably well-behaved it’s your responsibility.

RoquetteQueen ,

Lol no.

atomWood ,

It’s not some random strangers job to take care of you.

radioactiveradio ,

Or a big bag to put the kids in and stuff em in the luggage compartment.

Landrin201 ,
@Landrin201@lemmy.ml avatar

“People should abuse their children so that other passengers are more comfortable.”

That’s literally your suggestion

radioactiveradio ,

No, I’m saying children should count as luggage.

original_ish_name ,

Ear plugs always fall out, don’t work properly and feel uncomfortable for me

Drusas ,

I had that problem until I switched to smaller earplugs.

I want to use Linux at the desktop, but I want HDR and Freesync support. Not sure if Linux supports either in a big way.

cole ,
@cole@lemdro.id avatar

Freesync yes, HDR soon™

xuniL ,

Freesync and any vrr for that matter is supported on Wayland and X.org. HDR is supported on sway and some other compositors, but I don’t think there is too much adoption from apps yet

K0bin ,

VRR only works on Xorg if you only have 1 screen. And XWayland is broken on Nvidia.

argv_minus_one , (edited )

The problem is NVIDIA, not Linux. Don’t buy NVIDIA, and you’ll save yourself a lot of grief.

K0bin ,

I know. Too bad that Nvidia has more than 85% of marketshare.

Hikiru ,
@Hikiru@lemmy.world avatar

Valve is working on HDR support for the steam deck’s steamOS, which I assume will lead to other distroS following

Kalkaline , to memes in How though?
@Kalkaline@programming.dev avatar

Is this a serious question? If you really want an idea of how it works you should get a laser pointer and point it at the egg in the mirror and then put some fog/dust in the beam. It should be apparent what’s happening.

morrowind ,
@morrowind@lemmy.ml avatar

There was some stupid trend of tiktok of people being confused by it

geeraff ,

I see this as many people are curious of why this happens which leads to the eagerness to learn about optics, and I wouldn’t call that stupid.

This is exactly the type of experiment that engages students and ingrains the phenomenon to their memory.

morrowind ,
@morrowind@lemmy.ml avatar

It wasn’t an experiment. The creators just feign stupidity to generate engagement. I wouldn’t mind if they used it to teach how optics or light work .

Mana ,

That’s a great idea!

jarfil ,

Beware of adding a double slit to the paper and aiming the laser between the slits, weird things might happen.

No.

Chariotwheel ,

Yeah, this is silly 9gag stuff. Not like people on here don't take memes from other parts of the internet too. In the end, these things are supposed for sharing.

Roundcat , to memes in Saw this on feddit.de and want to share the idea.
@Roundcat@kbin.social avatar

My memes are for anyone on the internet to see, and hell even use. They usually don't take a lot of effort to make, and its not like a lot of my ideas are entirely original anyway. I'd be flattered more than anything that someone thought of my jokes worthy of repeating.

I was glad of my headphones.

She was fine on the way out there though

That’s half true, no one cares about you in particular but they still collect everything to have a database of all thing that could possibly care about in the future, Snowden did a great job revealing that and while it wasn’t state driven you can take a look at the Cainbridge Analytica story if you want to know what’s possible even if no one ever cares about you specifically, keep in mind that that’s even possible with very outdated technology by todays standards!
