Creative allowance. Even if it makes the game “unbalanced”.
Just Cause 2 with the grappling hook you could attach one end to a statue and one to a truck.
Grand Theft Auto 3 was the first game where I realized I could complete an assassination by stealing a police car, use the swarm of police cars following me as a “net” to trap my target’s car so he couldn’t drive away, and then blowing up the pile of cars with a grenade.
Rimworld where I can create a settlement of nudist vampires trading beautiful wooden sculptures for slaves to feed on.
The Sims 3 of course.
From the Depths, Minecraft, Space Engineers, Valheim also to a large degree.
While it’s very similar to botw, it fixes a few things and introduces a lot of new fun mechanics. If you enjoyed botw, there is no way you don’t have fun with totk.
Pick your own admin. I’m sure the kbin admin is awesome (can’t be worse than spez, lol) but it’s nice to have the option
Have more control over what your server federates with. Hate interacting with people from a specific server? Move to one that blocks it. Want to interact with people from a blocked instance? Move to one that doesn’t block them. Basically more options.
Don’t like the rules on your server? Go to one where you like the rules better.
Your server is down? That’s fine, go to a different one temporarily. You’re gonna feel this hard on Monday. Kbin’s gonna get crushed by the Reddit hug of death. You might wanna join up to a small Lemmy instance that the horde won’t notice if that happens and you still wanna be on.
If you like kbin’s admin, federation settings and rules? Then cool! You’re missing absolutely nothing from being there (except when it’s down). It’s nice to have options though.
Secret number 5:
If you know how to host a server, you can host your own Lemmy instance and have all the powa!
@Barbarian So I have a few questions, being new to all this:
Seemingly I am responding to you when you're on a different instance. I'm on kbin and you're on... sh.itjust.works? Am I understanding this right?
My kbin account is restricted to just kbin, correct? I cannot use my kbin credentials to log on to another instance like sh.itjust.works.
How do I make an original comment (this is a bit dumb lol). I see the option to reply to others but no "comment" button for me to comment on my own.
On kbin specifically... what is a microblog?
(Last one promise), what is up with the @stuff. I see this post link is kbin.social/m/[email protected]... I figured the /m is like reddit's /r, but what is the [email protected] meaning that this is the magazine/community from lemmy.mt when shown on the kbin /m/ instance version? Not sure if this question makes any sense lol I'm just trying to understand how this all works
Your username in the fediverse is not honorfaz, but @honorfaz, just as an email. It’s the same for communities (or sublemmy, or whatever we decide to call it). It’s not c/something, but c/[email protected]. This is why everyone still has a unique handle, but no unique admin.
I’m on my own instance for example, running in my living room, and yet here we are, talking. Internet as it was intented.
Ill miss RIF, im curious if RIF had a different algorithm or something cause from what im reading there was a lot of awful going on with reddit and I saw nearly none of it.
I mean, I didn’t see as much of the bad “Reddit” culture that people talk about either. But I had curated my feed to the point that I had little default subs left so perhaps I was “avoiding the crowds”, so to speak.
It definitely is hard to pick a particular favorite, they all have their moments in the show. If pressed though I would have to give it to Bender, the unpredictability just adds lots of fun to the show.
I’ve only been here for a day, but the lack of homophobia and transphobia here compared to Reddit has been a breath of fresh air. I’m not afraid of posting here like I was on Reddit, where I’d actually have to debate with myself for a minute or two before posting. It’s like finally leaving a bad relationship; now I’m starting to see how bad that all was for my mental health.
Use the report button if you see any of that too, we will not tolerate it here.
Reddit thrives off of letting homophobes and transpbobes ruin everyone’s day, because it drives up their engagement numbers. We aren’t going to allow that here.
BOTW for sure. The expansive open world is just great to get lost in. Not to mention the soundtrack can be calming when you’re out riding your horse in the fields.
Donations will work totally fine. If you checkout the Mastodon Patreon, they are getting 28k euros per month, and more through other platforms. With the way Lemmy is growing now, it should definitely be enough to pay the salaries for dessalines and me, and hopefully even take on more contributors.
Anyway lets wait how the Reddit blackout next week goes before discussing funding in detail. Things are still uncertain now.
