Disagree. Unpopular opinion posts are a thing. They are exactly what that poster has done. Deleting the post saying no one cares about an unpopular opinion is quite bad moderation unless there is a rule not to post such a type of topic.

Edit: The moderator who deleted that post should also read their own rules again, especially rule 4. Calling something a luke warm take that no one cares about is quite far from being nice.

That is sort of the aim with this initiative, isn’t it? Right now the standards are not the same, so some alternative treatments are absolut bullcrap while others actually seem to help.

Now once you find out which ones are a grift, as you say, would you really want all of these call with the same term, alternative medicine? Thats what the previous poster means, it would be much easier to lump those in with what we call now medicines and keep all the bullshit treatments on their own, a.k.a. alternative medicine.

If so, then don’t just look at the positive tests but at the graph that shows tests performed. Positive tests goes up but tests performed is relatively the same. That tells you it is a real increase in positivity. It could be the start of another big peak, or not. Time will tell, but you’d think going through the last years one should pay attention to such statistics. Because if you start taking measures only when you are back to 100.000+ cases a day you are a bit too late.

Scientists are not fast at abandoning established ways of communication. I mean they still publish the same way as a century ago, its just now digital too. It took a whole friggin’ pandemic for life science researchers to embrace the concept of pre-prints. 8 months to move from twitter sounds almost fast.
