I once sent an submission to a #Frontiers journal, I can't recall the name, something to do with #soil. It was obviously me being obnoxious. I wrote a short proposal that I scientifically proved dog shit made grass grow faster by careful observation of dog shit in my backyard as opposed to no dog shit in my front yard, resulting in empirical evidence that dog shit makes grass grow. They responded! They were interested in my "findings." I just had to pay $4000 for publication. @academicchatter
Dirt, soil, call it what you want―it's everywhere we go. It is the root of our existence, supporting our feet, our farms, our cities. This fascinating yet disquieting book finds, however, that we are running out of dirt, and it's no laughing matter. An engaging natural and cultural history of soil that sweeps from ancient civilizations to modern times.
