The somewhat twee title of this #MilesFranklinAward-winning book in no way prepared me for how much it would revolve around trauma. Set at an Australian retirement home run by a Sri Lankan family who fled civil war. It also delves into racism in modern day Australia, child loss, DV and colonialism.
