In previous years, I've invited undergrads to post to Tw*tter during my class sessions, as an alternate way to participate & as a shared (public) backchannel adding extra digital materials to our conversations.

This year, for obvious reasons, that's impossible, so I'm asking them to do so via Mastodon (which none of my students have used before).

It'll be a little experiement. Let's see whether gets any use from my students.

@commodon @academicchatter @tstruett ...and as in past semesters, if any legal eagles (looking at you, @icymi_law) see one of my students asking a good question during class, feel free to respond using the hashtag.

Update... 10-15 of my students signed up for Masto (on mastodon.social, which my instance restricts because of spam issues).

I got their handles & followed them, then followed the hashtag, but their posts never showed up.

I tried following the hashtag from my author account @RASinn, also to no avail.

Then I tried doing a hashtag search (without logging in) on mastodon.social & only some of their posts showed up.

Still a few bugs in the system.
