Growing up in the area, there were years where we'd bring our whole family up to the curbside of the and camp out for a day or two ahead of time. Just floats, bands, equestrians.

It's a little weird to see them going for the Super Bowl type-spectacle now. I'm both impressed & disgusted.

Esp with Honda as a sponsor, we get really auto-oriented BS in the beginning.

The Rose Parade does choose some good marching bands from all over the world. You can see them in the link above, but with commentary and cutaways.

The Green Band from Japan is one of the first and they have a great marching routine, plus take on the challenging "Cumbanchero".

Unexpected way to see cyclists in the parade - the New Buffalo Soldiers group representing the Iron Riders of the 25th Infantry. When the military was checking out bicycles as an alternative to cavalry.

Look at the wood rims on these bikes!

Two Black men re-enacting Buffalo Soldiers and Iron Riders. They have buff leather gloves, olive drab hats, cream suspenders with rose flowers & baby's breath pinned to them. Their shirts are dark blue and pants are khaki. They are riding bikes with two slightly different handlebar designs.
