Many times humans have incorrectly been characterised as the machine in experiments. In 1991, the very first Loebner Prize for an AI, a hidden human was considered a machine due to her extensive knowledge of Shakespeare.

sounds (well, you know what I mean) like a very interesting book. Saw the Swedish edition, as well as the second in the series (in English) in the shop today. I have a mile high TBR pile, so I never brought them home.
