Odo was reading the noir novel, "I, the Jury" by Mickey Spillane, when Quark entered his security office.
There is a Star Trek e-novella "I, the Constable" which is a noir style story focusing on Odo and Quark. Coincidentally, I read it a couple of weeks ago and it's very good.
I find it sad that I will probably never have a chance to use that line "what are you going to do short change them at the dabo table". only you folks would get the reference.
There was a nice scene between Garak and Quark in his tailor shop in which current fashion was used in their discussion as a metaphor for the Cardassian dissident movement.
In addition, the scene ends with the following:
Quark: if anyone harms her, they will have to go through me.
Garak: And what are you going to do? shortchange them at the dabo table?
