I visited Virginia City about two years ago. After about 10 minutes, We got the vibe loud and clear that this was a sundown town full of MAGA diehards. This black man’s experience does not surprise me at all.
I’ve been going to Virginia City once every few years since I was a kid. I was actually planning on bringing my kids there this week for the 1st time since I’m in Tahoe with them. This incident has me second guessing doing that. It’s a cool old silver rush town that still looks like the old West. I haven’t been since MAGA has been a thing. There were always a lot of Harley riders that used to go there. Of course in recent years, a lot of those folks have become MAGA idiots. It’s sad really. A lot of the more rural places I enjoy have become less and less palatable since MAGA has been a thing. I absolutely hate driving through a town I used to love and seeing some moron selling trump merch on the side of the road to all the locals who are eating it up.
