Can you install it on a Toshiba Libretto for Libretto-ception?

If you then 3D printed a libretto, would it be a cube?

LeFantome ,

I know you are joking but I think the 32 bit flux box version would boot to the desktop on some of the later Librettos.

You would be running out of RAM pretty quickly but I am sure it could be done.

hummel , to linux in MX-23 “Libretto” now available

Powering my work pc for years now. MX is really reliable for me.

InverseParallax ,

Can I ask what it adds onto base debian?

hummel , (edited )

From what i’ve read it seems to be easier to install than Debian (never tried myself) and it has a lot of nice tools to maintain your system.

HorseFD ,

Debian is really easy to install now. It used to be much harder back in the day.

kronarbob ,

There are ISO of debian with calamares installer available on debian website. The real difficulty is to find them.

David_H ,

It doesn’t have systemd, that seem to be important for some people

InverseParallax ,

Oh baby, come to mama! You have my full attention.

Drito ,

The Xfce setup looks nice out of the box.

I might try the Fluxbox version because my pc only has 4gb non upgradeable RAM and Ubuntu is using almost 2GB just to run at idle with no apps running.

Anybody have experience with MX?

I use the XFCE version, it’s around 400 MB idle, fluxbox should be even less I think.

Wow, that’s very low. I made a live usb of MX XFCE and one of Fluxbox. Running off the usb XFCE was using around 675mb and Fluxbox seeing 450. I then also tried Linux Mint Cinnamon and it was running at 745mb idle.

Fluxbox was a like too bare bones for me, XFCE was nice but Cinnamon is even nicer so for just an extra 200mb I went with Cinnamon. It’s using less than half of what Ubuntu does and gives me everything I need.

But I think I’ll run MX in a KVM VM just to use it, get used to it and see whether I might prefer it long term. I like that it uses less systemd.
