I’ve been there and out in Agadez rolling blackouts and no water is the norm. It’s messed up but that’s how it is over there since for as long as anybody can remember.

I don’t know what the fuck is happening there, but creating the electrical needs for one’s own country seems pretty damn important.

The difference here is that president was attempting to become an autocrat while the only charges I’ve seen levied against Bazoum are vague mentions of “treason”. I can understand if the president is unpopular that this coup might have quite a few supporters but that’s what elections are for.

Egypt, 1952 and 2013. Turkey had a few military coups between 1960 and 2000, but they weren’t really successful in establishing a free democracy. Probably others.
